For a month Román had been telling me that we were going to go to his friend's wedding. He created elaborate details about the time, the place, the food, and the people. He even made up a story (that seemed a little suspicious because it's nothing like him) about some old friends of his that he didn't want to see.
So, when it was finally time to go to the wedding last Friday, we were in our finest heading down the elevator, when Román said, "I don't know. I don't want to get there early, because then I will have to talk to people that I don't want to talk to."
Ummmm OK. Being the good girlfriend that I am though (haha), I said, "Alright, what would you like to do." So Román suggested that we go up to the roof of our apartment building and take some pictures. I didn't think this was weird, because we've gone up there before to do that. It has a great view.
We grabbed our camera from our apartment and headed up the flight of stairs to the roof. But, when we were in the stairwell, I heard someone else above us make a noise. I kind of freaked out, thinking that there was a murderer on the roof. Román was like, "Whatever, it's fine." So, up we went.
As soon as I stepped onto the roof, I saw a red light ahead of me and I heard music start to play. Then, I knew. I thought, well played sir, well played, and the crying began.
So, the whole night was very romantic. Román hired a private tango band, with three musicians playing the accordion, cello, and guitar. He placed flowers and candles around the roof and had dinner set up for us as well. We danced for half an hour under the stars, then he got down on one knee. We ate sushi and drank champagne after the band left and whispered sweet nothings to each other. HAHAHA
Seriously, Román did a super fantastic job, and he gets an A++!!!
As we want Román's family and friends to be able to come to our wedding, and we won't be moving back to the US until approximately May (or maybe February HEHEHE), we are estimating that our wedding will not be for a couple more years.
In the meantime, here are some pictures of the proposal....
Sushi (not homemade this time) and flowers
Tango band
