Do not wait more than a couple days to write about your vacation. You will forget most of the details and have trouble thinking of what to write in your blog.
But, I'll begin anyway....
After our workation to Tandil, we packed up and headed to Santa Rosa, La Pampa. La Pampa is a province in Argentina known for gauchos and cows. It looks exactly like Buenos Aires, but without the name Daniel Scioli graffitied on every bridge and wall.
FYI, Daniel Scioli is the Governor of Buenos Aires. James Carville is his political advisor. That is why I saw him on my flight here and almost peed my pants. Moving on....
While in Santa Rosa, we took time to visit Parque Luro and go for a hike. Below are pictures from the provincial park. I saw my first wild ostriches and what I think were parakeets. The landscape looked a bit like what I imagine Africa looks like.
Perhaps the most notable part of our trip to Santa Rosa was when I learned to drive a manual car! Almost all of the cars in Argentina are manuals, so it was our only option when we rented one. I was already having such a hard time not being able to communicate well that reminding myself that I couldn't even drive a manual car made it worse.
I had already kind of learned to drive a manual when I was sixteen, so I knew the basic idea, but I needed to be taught again. Luckily, Román is a very patient, awesome teacher. He gave me instructions and let me keep practicing even after I stalled the car fifty times. In the end though, I conquered. My ultimate test came when I drove the car for a couple hours moving through roundabouts, passing cars, and even going through a toll. I'm pretty sure I did a couple of fist pumps on the drive. TAKE THAT SPEED BUMP! THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT PEAJE!
Also, here is a picture of my cat, because I miss her....
